North Texas RCIC Continues Vision of Building Strong Entrepreneurial Ecosystem for North Texas
As the vetting and marketing arm for the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (ETF) for the North Texas region, the North Texas Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization (NTXRCIC) is expanding its offerings to work with entrepreneurs seeking to build scalable, competitive technology businesses for Texas. With the 82nd Legislative session complete, the NTXRCIC will continue to market and vet deal flow for the ETF in hopes of expanding their portfolio of 40 North Texas funded companies that have received over $53 million in investment from the ETF. In addition to vetting deals for the State of Texas, the NTXRCIC will focus on fostering relationships with regional university Technology Transfer arms, expand portfolio management services and offer quarterly pitch days for entrepreneurial ventures seeking funding.
“In the past five years of the NTXRCIC’s existence, we have reviewed over 800 business plans and entrepreneurial pitches,” summarized, Maria Smith, Director for the NTXRCIC. “We have been fortunate enough to work with some of Texas’ best innovators and entrepreneurs and look forward to expanding our support services within the region.”
The North Texas portfolio of ETF funded companies has created over 350 new quality jobs, established headquarters in 16 cities across Texas and secured an additional $100 million in Venture Capital or angel investment for the North Texas ETF portfolio companies. As these companies grow, the NTXRCIC is expanded its resource networks and developed valuable relationships for them.
