The Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at UTD was established in April 2006 to identify technologies grown in the university that could be commercialized to create start-up ventures. The Institute’s role is that of a facilitator, catalyst and program sponsor - leveraging the power of ideas and technology to create new ventures and add economic, social and cultural value to the region. The Institute works with researchers and students to review market feasibility, business plan merit, intellectual property and technology competitiveness as well as fundability. Programs are designed to advance the technology to the market, identify possible spin-out opportunities and create a community around entrepreneurship and the university.
