SNR Labs, Inc.
SNRLabs develops technology to solve Quality of Experience (QoE) issues seen in the fast-growing segment of mobile devices with multiple radios, such as, cellular, WiFi, WiMAX. Today, the company’s patent-pending Convergence Manager Suite™ products are changing the game in terms of the level of QoE in multi-radio devices, offering a seamless, optimized experience while significantly reducing device power consumption.
SNRGrade™ is a Quality of User Experience (QoE) metric that enables devices to make intelligent connectivity decisions. SNRGrade™ is the first metric that allows the device to compare the QoE between disparate networks, such as 3G, WiFi, LTE and WiMAX.
This metric enables mobile network operators to better manage the explosive growth in data traffic on their networks by offloading traffic from cellular to WiFi networks when possible while ensuring a consistent user experience.
With the exponential growth in converged devices such as smartphones, netbooks and tablets, operators are facing a huge amount of network congestion which has become a very big problem for them. Operators are struggling to provide customers with good service, within the current infrastructure. Amongst alternate solutions, they are looking for a way to offload traffic onto WiFi hot spots, while continuing to give consumers the best possible service. In our view, reliance solely on network QoS parameters or RSSI does not provide operators with sufficient information to manage this offload, as these indicators do not convey information about the actual user experience. We believe that SNRGrade can solve this issue by providing operators with relevant information from the device for intelligent and efficient traffic offload.
What is QoE? It’s the user’s perception of how usable the device and services are. It’s made of up of several components including: signal strength; end-to-end link quality and bandwidth; battery life; cost of connectivity; application choices; user’s preferences; and the ability to achieve multiple connections based on user need.
SNRLabs software and intellectual property opens up a wide
range of mobile services that take advantage of both the ubiquity provided by cellular (e.g. GSM or UMTS) and the high-speed localized connectivity provided by wireless broadband (e.g. WiFi). New possibilities now include: opportunity-based content delivery; one phone (one number, one contact list) per user across multiple networks; and advertisement-driven mobile services. SNRLabs patent-pending technology is setting a new standard in terms of QoE, giving end users unparalleled radio management while optimizing battery life.
Rapid strides on the technology front have created a scenario where devices are getting smaller, while the challenges to remain relevant and competitive are getting larger. With the latest and advanced mobile devices, some with four or more radios, achieving a high Quality of Experience (QoE) is critical to customer satisfaction, market adoption and increased ARPU for operators.
Sustained R&D and innovative product development at SNRLabs has resulted in SNRLabs’ product offerings that assure the promise of a truly high Quality of Experience (QoE) via advanced connectivity, mobility, and power management in Converged Mobile Devices. The SNRLabs product portfolio works on diverse operating systems – such as Android, Moblin, Linux, Windows, Windows Mobile, and processor platforms – such as Intel Atom™ processors, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments OMAP™ and connectivity platforms.
SNRLabs products: Better multi-radio management equals better QoE:
- Allows the “best” connectivity at any time, irrespective of which radios are used
- Provides best performance in voice and data session handovers across radio networks, irrespective of standards
- Prolongs battery life of converged devices
- Can be used with any devices - agnostic to chipsets, processors, OS
- Differentiation that is standards agnostic
